Jhansi city got huge popularity at the ruling period of Marathas. The brave queen Rani Lakshmi Bai ruled the city for long years, though she fought in opposition to the British East India Company in 1857 and lost the fight.

Previously the Jhansi was named as Shankar Garh ruled by ruler Raja Bir Singh. The ruler Singh constructed the fort on the hill of the city to watch the city completely. The king recognized that the view of city from fort is quite blurred. The word Jhain-si means blurred shadow so the city was named as Jhansi. 
 

Construction of Jhansi fort was done in 1613. At present this fort is the first tourist spot of Jhansi having wonderful compilation of sculptures. The statuettes on wall describe the past of Bundelkhand region. The statues of 9th to 12th era can be viewed in palace of Rani Lakshmi Bai. The silver, copper and gold coins are fixed on the walls of palace which is again the best thing to watch.

Government Museum: State Museum is first tourist spot of the city established in 1978. Its graphic position and huge collection of objects gained the tribute from local people.
 

Jhansi Fort: next spot to visit is fort of Jhansi constructed in 1613 by King Bir Singh Deo. The fort was intentionally created on the hill to control the city from single point. The area used to construct the fort is around 15 acres
.

Chathri (umbrella) of King Gangadhar Rao: the place known as a symbol of love and friendliness is King Gangadhar Rao Chathri. The spot is known as major attraction of city containing charm comparing to other locations of Jhansi. To watch Chathri visitors have to reach Lakshmi Tal which was constructed by Queen Lakshmi Bai. She built the Chathri in reminiscence of her husband King Gangadhar Rao. The year was 1853 having best monuments of city.

Rani Mahal: the famous palace of Rani is nowdays serving the city as museum. Travelers can learn about the rich history of Rani and her social achievements as well. Visiting the spot boost the patriotic feeling especially in Indians. 
 

Barua Sagar: Jhansi is situated near the river Betwa. The limited area of river is known as Barua Sagar where tourist can enjoy the magnificent natural beauties. The area is recognized as Barua Sagar Tal constructed by King Udit Singh. 
 

Ganesh Mandir: the religious spot of Jhansi is next tourist location added to the list. The beautiful shrine positioned close to the entry point of fort Jhansi. According to local people Ganesh Mandir is having huge historical values for the city. The temple is proof of Maharaja Gangadhar Rao marriage with Queen Lakshmi Bhai. Maha Lakshmi Temple: other shrine of the city is Maha Lakshmi holy place constructed in 18th century. The amazing idol of Goddess Maha Lakshmi is believed to fulfill all wishes of her devotees. The temple is positioned in Lakshmi Tal an exterior part nearby Lakshmi Buland Darwaza.

St Jude's Church: the shrine of Jhansi is after the name of Saint Jude. The finest part of church is every community people are attaining the prayer in the church.
 

Jhansi Mahaotsav: the big fest of the city is Jhansi Mahaotsav which is conducted to promote the civilization and custom of this immense city. Travelers can watch the drama played with the story of Rani Lakshmi Bai.

By Rail: the city is having big junction with broad Gage railway lines. Trains from Mumbai, Delhi, Bhopal, Hyderabad, and many other big cities are available for Jhansi. The city is the big junction between the routes of Delhi to Mumbai rails.

By Air: big airbase near the Jhansi city is Gwalior serving domestic flights throughout the nation.   1. Jhansi is a very significant historical place in India, well known after the great and valiant Maratha Queen Rani Lakshmi Bai. It was a hotspot for the Indian Revolt of 1857.
